Re: Retiring old Intel NIC for a 2.5gbe Realtek USB to RJ45 NIC RTL8156B? [Solved]
OK that is good to hear. Before purchasing the device I did a simple benchmark test (using gnome disks utility) using a fast USB to NVMe device and it was like 500 mib/s, but when I use Thunar to simply transfer a large file it was reporting a measly 115 mib/s for the same exact file and same ...

Retiring old Intel NIC for a 2.5gbe Realtek USB to RJ45 NIC RTL8156B? [Solved]
Hello again
Today I want to install this new USB to Ethernet adapter I got from Amazon. Its the Plugable USBC-E2500 adapter with both Type A and C connector. I recently upgraded my entire network to 2.5gbe, including all PC adapters, router and switch. Looking forward to trying 9000K Jumbo frames ...

Re: Installed to wrong drive. Can I fix/clone this easily to correct drive?
Ok the link MXRobo supplied did the trick.
I used
And I was immediately given access to create and use folders. I sure hope that was correct. I was ready to pull the drive out of the machine. Thanks to everyone who replied.
I used
Code: Select all
sudo chown -R rod:rod /media/rod/nameofpartition/.

Re: Installed to wrong drive. Can I fix/clone this easily to correct drive?
OK got it installed to the proper ssd. However after erasing and formatting the storage drive I can't get linux to use it. I can't make any Folders or anything. I can mount and unmount, but thats about the extent of it. I have tried multiple times both using gparted and the terminal. I partitioned ...

Re: Installed to wrong drive. Can I fix/clone this easily to correct drive?
Ok good then. Will the tool create a bootable iso for re-installation of mx with everything intact as it is now? Or something else? And if so, should I remove the sata drive just in case?

Installed to wrong drive. Can I fix/clone this easily to correct drive?
Well hello again,
A few days ago I decided to unretire my 5th gen Intel NUC5i7RYH and install MX-23. I put in a Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe SSD (250GB) to install MX to, and also installed a 1TB 870 EVO SATA SSD for files, etc. However after a few days of setting it up with all of the pertinent ...

Re: Windows 7 End of Life
The Windows user should be responsible for shrinking the Windows partition, NOT the Linux install. If you want dual boot space for Linux, then you boot into Windows and use Disk Manager to create that space for Linux, then you boot up the Live Linux USB and create a new Linux partition within that ...

Re: MX 19 Repository: The Mesa/graphic drivers Thread
Yeah, that's why I said it might be too early as well. BUT with that said, it is and has been extremely stable and been ready for consumers since September. So it is not too early for us consumers to test as it stands. I would like to test it, but I don't know how to install it outside of the ...

Re: MX 19 Repository: The Mesa/graphic drivers Thread
It might be a tad too early for ACO in the package manager, but I really wouldn't know, lol.
ACO will be the standard A md shader CO mpiler (is that why its called ACO?) in mesa within a few months though.
So, I was just thinking that for the few of us experimenting with mesa-aco that it would be ...
