Right click on the Whisker Menu (just to avoid confusion, the button not the window), click "Properties", then "Appearance" Tab, and uncheck "Position search entry on bottom". Worked! the difference was the "Position search entry next to panel button" on MX-23. Thanks again; marked SOLVED.

I believe what your looking for is in Window Manager Tweaks, on the Accessibility tab and uncheck Automatically Tile Windows when Moving Towards the Screen Edge. Well, I'll be; Window Manager Tweaks has different tabs then MX-Tools -> Tweaks -> Window Manager. Tweak_WM.png WM_Tweaks.png Thanks

One set of rules containing allow and deny statements affecting Home, Office, and Public; that sounds reasonable.

gufw has three profiles: Home, Office, Public

When using ufw in terminal, which profile is it accessing?
Is there a way to switch among the three; I checked: man ufw and ufw -h, did not see any information.

Turns out it was simply a very weak wifi signal; moved next to router, no problems.
