Also note that other shares that have more directories than the pictures share open a little faster on the desktop. The laptop seems to be quick no matter which share I open.

When I open my main pictures share(hosted in Unraid) on my desktop(wired), it takes about 6 seconds to populate the list of directories in Thunar. When I open this same share on my laptop(wireless), it's almost instant. They are both running 23.5 but the laptop is "fresher" than the desktop, that is ...
