MCE Error Decoding (possibly with a tool)

Today I ran into the MCE error on my live system (running MX 23.4 XFCE).

The error looks likes this:

Re: Live USB Maker seemed to chown some home folders to be under root

fehlix To my best knowledge the only notable abnormality was that I had mismatched BIOS version which might have caused issue to my CPU; the BIOS has been updated with correct fix for 14700K prior to my exercise of Live USB making. The particular error caused stuttering and sometimes failure of ...

Re: Unable to load nvidia-drm kernel module during driver installation

You can also pass the modeset or no modeset parameter on the GRUB command line at boot without those conf files--I'd try removing or renaming them both, then try a palin reboot to see if that works, but then try them at boot if they don't.

I assume that you got the messsage about nouveau being ...

Re: Live USB Maker seemed to chown some home folders to be under root

Did you reboot after remaster? Clone running live system tends to get misinterpret as it will not clone persistence files, but linuxfs and surrounding boot-files only.
Suggest run a personal snapshot, so you have all in one iso file as "backup" in addition to remaster's own rollback feature.
you ...

Live USB Maker seemed to chown some home folders to be under root

I've done a remaster today for my live system, and I generally back it up with another SSD using Live USB Maker.

My persistance option is set to persist_static.
My live persistance option is set to automatic.

Remaster:
1. Open RemasterCC
2. Choose Remaster
3. Choose Personal
4. Choose to delete ...

Unable to load nvidia-drm kernel module during driver installation

I am using a 4070 Super which is considered too new for the nvidia driver available currently in package installer, therefore I'll have to install the proprietary driver from NVIDIA directly. The version I installed was 550.135.0 ( the same happened for 560.35.03). I am running a Live USB system.

I ...

'xorg=nvidia' and 'nomodeset': difference and when to use them

I've recently re-installed the nvidia proprietary driver (550.135.0) for my Live USB system and I found that using 'xorg=nvidia' did not work (i.e., getting black screen upon reboot); then I did a nvidia-run-mx inxi -G :

I would remove the kernel before trying to install any new drivers.
Thank you and I forgot to unhold the image and headers packages; removing the hold the purge command sequence worked.

Re: 23.4 ahs failed to build 6.12 kernel module on update [Solved]

yes.

sudo apt purge linux-image-6.12.8-1-liquorix-amd64 linux-headers-6.12.8-1-liquorix-amd64

this should also remove the auto-updates metapackages.

I think there is a 565 driver that does build on 6.12. I don't know if it works, but it does build.

Thanks dolphin_oracle !

It seems that ...

23.4 ahs failed to build 6.12 kernel module on update [Solved]

I know that 6.12 is not going to work for my card for now (4070 Super) and I wrote about it here: https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=802663#p802663

I also read Oracle's notice on 6.12 coming to ahs as well: https://mxlinux.org/blog/6-12-kernel-rollout-is-not-without-issues-with-nvidia ...
