Steve, yes this seems to be a common complaint, I was hoping someone on this forum would have the answer.

I downloaded the necessary files for the installation of purple-facebook plugin, I don't appear to have any errors. When I log onto facebook I get this error.

Failed to read thrift: api.c:1897 fb_api_cb_publish_pt: assertion 'fb_thrift_read_stop(thft)' failed

This appears in the error notice ...

Well I ended up installing the NVidia drivers to get this package to work, Don't know what the problem was.

Thank you for your tips with the VM however, I only loaded the package into the VM to see if it worked, and it did. As above, I had the accounting package AppImage working under MXLinux when I had the Nvidia drivers installed. I will go back and reinstall the Nvidia drivers and see if that effects ...
