I temporarily solved my own problem. I used a fresh SSD [external], gparted, and an "installation" disk. I don't see a "presentation mode" in the "power settings", or, "Screensaver".

I turned off "Automatic Updater" on January 31, 2025 due to Timeshift problems. I started updating again on May 26, 2025. I am having problems with Timeshift again; but, I haven't had time to investigate that problem yet. And the screen problem did not exist before then.
