Re: Daily use of MX Linux (and Antix if you use it as well)
I can't use MX Linux for Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. I'm simply more used to those over GIMP and Inkscape. Any Microsoft Office 365 tasks for work I also do in Windows or Mac. Personal documents are all done using LibreOffice.

Re: Help installing to Mac 2007
Are you going to wipe out mac os on the disk and go full linux? If so then you may use the entire disk as it's the easiest option. It's also easy to have separate partitions for root and home but not necessary.

Re: Nextcloud client not running on startup, also machine not automatically connecting to WiFi.
I just uninstalled the Flatpak version and installed from the testing repo and it's running on startup now. TIme to test the wifi connection... I'm using an MBP Early 2015 and I know it has usb-interfering-with-wifi problems so I'll just have to do a bit more testing of it.

Nextcloud client not running on startup, also machine not automatically connecting to WiFi.
I installed Nextcloud by Flatpak from the MX Package Installer. On the app's own General Settings, "Launch on System Startup" is checked but has no effect. I could copy and paste the command from the icon into the "Application Autostart" in "Session and Startup". But I wonder if there may be a ...

Re: NFS export causes shutdown to slow or hang
Hi. Just wanted to post an update.
This was a few days ago:
I had to clean my desk so I powered off my RPi containing the NFS export, and when it rebooted all of a sudden I couldn't get NFS to work, something with proc-fs-nfsd.mount. If I'm wrong well I can't remember it exactly. Anyway I got ...

Re: MX freezes when shutting down
I have this issue if I shutdown without unmounting an NFS export that I added first, but on first install I didn't have this problem so yours is most likely of a different issue. Is this a plain install?

Re: NFS export causes shutdown to slow or hang
I will try setting that option and get back. However may I ask, where I would see syslog error messages?

Re: NFS export causes shutdown to slow or hang
I'm not using systemd. I always booted up with the initial option, though I tried using systemd as well and the only difference is that when I choose systemd the nfs directory isn't mounted... not sure what to do with that though. Maybe the fstab entry isn't being read. Anyway in both cases if I do ...

NFS export causes shutdown to slow or hang
Hi.
I just installed Linux again after a long time of just Mac and Windows, and this time I'm trying to learn it properly.
So, I have an NFS share on my MX Linux laptop, exported from a Raspberry Pi, on my local network. If I do not unmount it before shutdown, the process takes an excruciatingly ...
