Re: Expectations about MX25

What I expect to do is that I will create a persistent USB, customize it with adding the packages that I prefer and removing the ones I don't, and install that reusing the /home that I already have.

Re: Virgin Asus Vivobook not booting into USB (Linpus lite)

When shopping for your next laptop for Linux, I would recommend not bothering with Asus, they are one of the most Linux hostile makers.
If you have any trouble with the laptop with Linux, the first thing they will tell you is to reinstall Windows and check for the problem after that, if the problem ...

Re: Different package name for Pale Moon AVX?

I think it's a better idea to get the updated browser with bugfixes, even if the first install will be non-AVX. Can you really tell if it's much slower?

Pale Moon is also really protective of its name, I don't want to go changing it right off.

Would they object to palemoon-avx as a name though ...

Sadly, it is not in the Debian Bookworm repos which MX-23 draws from.
It is in the Debian Bullseye repos (MX-21) and the Debian Trixie (MX-25 to-be) repos.
The deb from Debian Trixie says all dependencies are satisfied in MX-23 when I checked it with gdebi, but I did not ...

Waterfox was sold to an ad revenue company several years back.
More recently it was sold back to the original developer.

@asqwerth It runs but I'm still facing fuzzy text when I restart the fluxbox desktop.

In my experience having two conkies running in the same place at the same time will cause that, it is why most conky start scripts begin with killall ...

Re: MX installer vs. Calamares

Some distros Devs still don't get that In the coming year or so there will be a massive user base coming from Win10 (that I still use). And since there's a zilion distros the ones that make it easier on new users are the ones who are going to get the most share.

I really do not see that ...

Re: Wheres cinnamon?

Linux Mint, including Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE), will have the latest version of the Cinnamon DE because the Linux Mint team are the developers of the Cinnamon DE.

The Mint repos can work in MX Linux, but you may get 'upgrades' to other packages that could cause you some trouble.
I would ...

Re: Upgrade Request - KiCad [Solved]

If you permanenly enable backports in the Repo Manager then (the way I understand it but could be wrong) it will update everything that happens to have a newer version in backports and probably break your system.

As long as the backports repo has a lower apt pinning priority than the main repo ...
