Re: Hello everyone! Is it time to switch to MX?
MX isn't lightweight. Would you all like to see a bare-metal, real-life example? MX 19.4 on this Single core (Pentium M) 32bit HP from the end of 2005 with DDR2 ram (2048MB at its max). Just look at the conky , all parts.
I can only speak to my own installs of 10-20 different distros (which I ...

AMD Llano A8-3870K @ 4x3.00 GHz, 8 GB DDR3-1600 (planning to upgrade to 16 GB soon), 120 GB SSD + 2 TB HDD
That's a Passmark score 2341. I've run MX 18 on an old Passmark 1000 laptop. I'm currently running 19.4 on a Passmark 2000 as a torrent-serving machine. I feel it's a little slow (but ...

Re: Hello everyone! Is it time to switch to MX?
In search of a distro for my main workstation which I plan to migrate from Windows 7 to Linux (bye, bye, M$),
What is your hardware? (Win 7 makes me think older hardware, slower?) You could download MX 19.4, boot the live USB. See how it runs. You can download the 21 beta too, see how it runs ...

Re: keyboard and touchpad stuck [Solved]
Hi again, I am reading about to update the bios, this is the enhacement :
- Provides support for additional notebook models.
What I cannot understand is, what kind of support? Hardware, security,..? I am not native english, sorry.
Most bios "release notes" aren't great. But, I agree, those ...

Re: Mxlinux 21 - One of the best XFCE distros out there
I log into lxde once in a while just to check that it's working.
I cannot handle this emotional roller coaster. :goodevil: I was literally anticipating meeting my old friend again.
I really liked LXDE. I don't know why it took the turn it did (labor, but I don't really care about the ...

Re: Mxlinux 21 - One of the best XFCE distros out there
It's also one of the best LXDE distributions. Who could have known? It's a small install from the MXPI, and very usable...
I was wondering what you were talking about. I typed LXDE in MX Package Installer. I see it. I loved LXDE Lubuntu for years (until the final version fell out of support ...

Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
@CharlesV try creating your live USB with GPT partitioning instead of MSDOS partitioning. Advanced Options in Live USB Maker.
I wonder if I had the same problem. A brand new cruzer with MX Live USB Maker. Everything seemed to go ok. When I booted, my f12 boot choice showed the device (linpus ...

Re: keyboard and touchpad stuck [Solved]
Is there some manual in this forum to update Bios?
That's usually specific to the laptop. I was looking at this HP product page . Choose the OS and version. Then you'll be presented with the bios available. The details or the downloaded file will usually explain how.
I didn't look far, but I ...

Re: keyboard and touchpad stuck [Solved]
I do not like to update Bios, I think I can brick PC.
I agree, I don't chase bios updates trying to stay current for no reason. That would be unnecessary risk. / But, if I were having a problem like yours, I'd do it. You're two versions behind. The "fixes" info doesn't mention your problem ...
