onscreen keyboard does not auto-show

I use the built-in onscreen keyboard. I choose to start it in hidden mode and I choose to "auto-show when editing text".
But the keyboard never shows up when I edit text. It stays hidden.
Do other people experience the same problem?
Has anyone fixed it?

layout problem with clock plugin in xfce 4.18

In the XFCE clock plugin:
- I choose to show the date before the time
- I put a newline before date, to reserve some space on top. This works - I get an empty line above the date.

As you see in the second ...

Just recently I migrated from Mx-21 to MX-23 (without full reinstall, following instruction from the wiki) and my system is stable as ever.
The only things I did, which was not mentioned in the wiki was:
- install gxkb ...

Re: session startup - keyboard switcher - mx23 [Solved]

Ok, I solved the problem. I think there was something wrong with my specific installation. I am not sure though.
1. I copied kbd.sh and gxkb and gxkb-start and gxkb_start.sh from the squashfs file system of an mx-linux-iso to my file system in /usr/bin
2. I removed the kbd.desktop keyboardswitcher ...
