Thanks, did not think of that. Makes sense. The upgraded RAM should more than take care of that.

I seem to have a problem with the amount of RAM. it is listed as 32GiB with only 11Gib available for Linux. I think I need to increase the Swap file. How can I do that?

are the other tray icons present? (network, usb-unmounter, clipboard, etc...)

if not, check to make sure the status-tray panel plugin is still installed.

if they are, check the status-tray panel plugin settings to make sure apt-notifier is not hidden.


Looks like it was the status tray I had ...

The subject says it all. One day I started MX ahs and it was missing, No warning, I never removed it from the panel and have always used the same icons and other settings.
