MX 21 is awesome

I installed MX 21 on a spare USB-connected hard drive, works great. In time it will very likely become the install on my internal M.2 SATA drive as well.

Thanks so much for your great work, MX devs, and everyone else who contributed in any way.

A couple of very favourable reviews of one of your earlier betas of this OS were posted by the Youtube channel "LeePSPvideo":

How many GB/TB of downloads these days for all MX releases?

Just curious, how many GB/TB of downloads do all MX releases use up per month, grand totaled across all mirrors, these days? Anyone know?

Sourceforge is also being difficult for me. I for one, would prefer for the downloads to come from some other place, than Sourceforge.

Edit: got it now...

Re: where do YOU learn about additional apps/software?

The "Destination Linux" community has threads where people post interesting favorites. For example,

"Must have apps on any new Linux distro install"

I like hearing software choices vetted by other (real) people, as I trust ad-sponsored, published articles less and less.

Re: Samba failure

Linux seems not to like NTFS. The shares in the Samba config look ok to me and only the first (joerg, is ext4 formatted) works:

Jeorg, I would suggest, please consider just doing the straightforward thing, and serve your data from a Linux filesystem, such as BTRFS, or EXT4.

Please think twice.

A long time ago, I too tried to install Linux, but on an old G3 Mac. Also an iMac. Never again, shall I try that futile, painful sort of thing. Macs bend over backwards to keep Linux off of them.

Even so much as installing Virtualbox in Mac OS is hard these days (to run a Linux VM); you'll need to ...

Re: Need help with Raid 5

Don't use BTRFS for RAID 5 (that is to say, using BTRFS's in-built RAID 5 feature). It's not stable. It says so here:
Status: BTRFS Wiki: https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Status

Maybe consider XFS?
