Re: Duplicate PC Names in Thunar
Dear All, after years of trying to resolve this I think I have worked it out. I think what was happening is that I was assigning static IP addresses using DHCP however DHCP continued to also assign dynamic addresses, hence a double up. I have never seen this before, didn't know this was even ...

Re: MX19.4 to MX21 & mdadm RAID
Dear Mauser,
Yes, understand, the price of hardware RAID has always been prohibitive for me and my applications. Just out of interest I have a multiboot system and rebooted into MX19.4 to take a screenshot of RAID i/o for comparison sake. The image is attached and shows zero i/o activity on the ...

Re: MX19.4 to MX21 & mdadm RAID
Dear Mauser,
The Linux RAID that I am using is a software RAID using a package called mdadm available in the MX repositories. I am sorry I dont know the version number that is installed but can have a look when I get back to the PC and supply the same. Have used it for a number of years now and ...

MX19.4 to MX21 & mdadm RAID
Dear All,
Am trying to transition from MX19.4 to MX21, am working my way through my list of things. I have noticed that my mdadm RAID-1 in MX21 appears to behave differently. In MX19.4 I would seldom see HDD activity on conky whereas in MX21 I notice constant and persistent HDD activity as is ...

Re: MX 21 - Wake from screensaver state
Dear HF,
First off thank you, the explanations and leads have helped enormously. I now understand a few more things, namely:
1) understand that there is no screensaver in default MX21 install, and
2) The behaviour I observed was a PC that was running yet did not respond to ANY keyboard inputs ...

Re: MX 21 - Wake from screensaver state
Thank you HF,
Just to clarify I do not use the suspend state and never have (to my knowledge). If the machine goes into a suspend state then that can only be the result of a default setting. I recall seeing a lot of talk about suspend states and it seemed to raise a level of discomfort with many ...

MX 21 - Wake from screensaver state
Dear All,
Been using MX Linux 19.4 for quite some time and decided to try transition to MX Linux 21 recently. Has not felt like a good transition. After installing 21 and when the PC goes into screen saver mode I cannot get back to the login screen unless I press CTRL+ALT+DEL (at least once and ...

Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
Dear All,
Installed MX-21 beta 1 one a Dell Optiplex 9020 (details below) today. I elected a simple install, didn't do anything fancy or complicated, it worked perfectly. Also did a system update afterwards and again, worked perfectly.
System: Host: <filter> Kernel: 5.10.0-8-amd64 x86_64 bits ...
