Re: Error during upgrade (regular)

I am getting the same errors on two of my Thinkpads (T490 & L430): E: Failed to fetch http://deb.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-signed-amd64/linux-image-6.1.0-14-amd64_6.1.64-1_amd64.deb 403 Access denied - broken package [IP: 146.75.126.132 80] E: Failed to fetch http://deb.debian.org/debian ...

Re: MX Linux 23 on Lenovo Thinkpad T490 <SOLVED>

MX 23.1 installed OK in legacy BIOS mode from a DVD but it had issues. A good number of linux distros have been moving to UEFI/USB installs only in the past 3-4 years. Another issue with some Arch or RHEL distros was lack of printer support for my ageing HP 4500 ENVY printer which HP no longer ...

Re: Upgrade from MX-21 to MX23

I ran Adrian's upgrade script today on two of my Thinkpad laptops (T490 and L430) and it ran flawlessly. Must follow the procedure carefully to get good results. The script worked 100% of the time in my case! Users should not be discouraged from upgrading using a script as opposed to a fresh install ...

Re: MX Linux 23 on Lenovo Thinkpad T490 <SOLVED>

I solved my problem with a workaround which I didn't even think of until I tried just about everything else. I installed MX 21.3 to an empty partition. I have MX 19.4 and Debian 12.2 on two other partitions on my production T490. I applied all the standard updates. Then I ran Adrian the developer's ...

MX Linux 23 on Lenovo Thinkpad T490 <SOLVED>

I am writing this with MX 19.4. I have used MX Linux for almost the past 4 years and Mint and Ubuntu prior to that. MX Ver. 17/18/19/21 all ran fairly well on my T450 and T490. I have installed MX 23.x on the T490 in legacy bios mode but have not been able to use it because of problems. They have ...

Re: Wine on MX Linux 19.4 <SOLVED>

I tried using the MX Package Installer for Wine-Staging. It installed OK but did not run. I found an article on the web and followed it to install Wine-Staging 7.17 and it runs OK on MX 19.4. Thanks to all!

To: Eadwine Rose Re: Post #492 regarding unintelligible audio with VLC Here's the output when running VLC through the Terminal, both initializing and then trying to run the .3gp video file in question. Video is OK but audio is garbled both with VLC and also with Dragon Player. However, the file runs ...

Re: MX-23 beta 2 feedback thread

I don't know if this has already been reported and don't have time to look through 49 pages here. When using VLC media player 3gp media files do not play properly. The output is jerky and unintelligible. It appears that this is a Debian bug carried over into MX Beta and other Debian derivatives ...

Re: Wine on MX Linux 19.4

Yes, yes, yes. I have been using Wine for at least 10 years or more. Tried all the ways to install it, etc. As I said, it installed just fine but Wine for Buster doesn't work no matter what I do. Thanks for all your suggestions.
