Thanks again, everyone, for the help. It has been a learning experience. I finally caved and sent the laptop to a computer specialist and he did a clean install of MX_Linux.

Now I have a lot of reinstalling to do, like Gimp. But that is actually fun.


I believe GIMP comes preinstalled on MX ...

Two: if your MX-19 installation has been in use for a long while there's probably a lot of cruft on the system just like you eventually get with any OS. Three: you've left your MX Test ...

Would need your Quick System Info to help you with that. It may be different in KDE than in Xfce.
