I suggest you run htop in terminal and see what processes/programs are using up the cpu.

I don't use linux for gaming but I am in the same boat using autohotkey to hold down the "w" key. I look forward to the answers given as I hope someday to be able to switch completely to linux.

I'm still thinking about this. Maybe there would be a way to show the default defaults only in our released iso files but then turn them off for snapshots and remasters. IDK. I think this is only an issue for the language and timezone. Were there problems of this sort with any other menus? I tried ...

I love your tint2 config! Though I prefer a much simpler conky. I just took the default Antix/MX conky and stripped out the graphs and other stuff I didnt need including clock and set the update to 10 seconds.

You shouldn't need to even edit that file if you use the customize entry when you boot. Changes you make when you boot can be saved. If you only want the option to save without the other menus such as language then use the cheat "menus=s".
