The user ID to access the share has to exist on the machine hosting the share... AND that user ID must have a SMB password as well. In MX23 there is a firewall that is installed by default and is turned on. You should turn this off or setup ports for sharing. I think that the post you propose is about split view which is not my problem. I have a dual monitor and the new xfce keeps on going back to a single monitor. I now realize I should probably have posted in hardware...
