Here's one method to backport Trixie's sources for MX 23's multiple architectures. Soon to be in the test repo:
https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:stevenpusser:sdl3-mx23
Anyway, it's much easier to backport the Trixie sources than to do it manually, though it also required a backport of ...

Re: Live USB updated kernel will not boot
There is also the question of where and why you got the 6.16 kernel, since we still have it in ahs-staging until we can make sure most dkms packages will build with it. I think we are just about there, though.

Re: Can't install audacious-dev [Solved]
What the heck? Can you reinstall that kernel now, or is it still one or the other?
I have the test repo audacious installed on my AHS working install, without the dev package available as an experiment, and all aptitude wants to do for me is to downgrade to the Bookworm audacious to match. So it ...

Re: How good is support for Radeon RX 9070 XT?
OK, regardless of desktop, any version with the AHS repos will have our latest firmware and Mesa 25+
Speaking of kernels, I just found out our current AHS nvidia-driver will build on a 6.16 kernel, as will virtualbox 7.1.12 in the test repo. Probably our latest updated legacy drivers, too.

Re: Can't install audacious-dev [Solved]
Usually aptitude on the command line can do a more surgical downgrade of the backports packages...make sure you go through its multiple options.
Code: Select all
sudo aptitude install audacious-dev

Re: How good is support for Radeon RX 9070 XT?
Yes, but I thought you were advising the selective installation of the newer kernel and Mesa from AHS on stock Bookworm MX. The stock AMD firmware will not support the newer hardware.
Of course, if you meant use the full AHS ISO, all the goodies come preinstalled, or as standard updates.

Install the 6.12 kernel and the Mesa 25+ package. Both available with the AHS repo.
Plus firmware-amd-graphics from AHS.
