Re: How to install Thunderbird 137 under MX-Linux

You may be able to set up your accounts under thunderbird 128. If it is just email, you will likely find that it works well MX-Linux is based on debian stable. The message in German after being translated by firefox is "The following packages have unfulfilled dependencies: thunderbird-l10n-de ...

Re: how install nemo 6.4.3

Nemo is installed from the debian repositories. Debian will not change the version of nemo untill the next stable release of Debian. Debian Stable may not have the latest version of some packages, because they value stability over newer versions of software.

Re: Suspicious reviews? You decide!

I have been using linux since 2003. Mandrake was my first distro (because it was the only one I could install). Mepis opened me to the world of Debian. I have had distros freeze up in the past, but never MXLinux. I can remember in the early days of my use of linux, I would have a problem due to my ...

Re: Is Debian Stable getting more unstable?

If you are using "stable-backports," it can sometimes cause problems. But you may not be doing that. In Debian, stable-backports are pinned to 100 and you have to specifically choose the backports. I recently had a problem with the Brave Browser which is not a part of debian, it's 3rd party. But ...

Re: mxlinux 21.2 nvdia driver problem [Solved]

I received an error message nvidia on a debian bullseye install, however, after a reboot, everything was working as it was supposed to do. I still would receive an error message on the next few times I used synaptic. The next time I used that computer, the error message was gone. But, I'm sure ...

Re: MX rules Distrowatch

I think it was 2004. I was using Mepis. I would read some folks mentioning Ubuntu. I tried Ubuntu, and was not impressed, and thought it would never go anywhere. Obviously, I was wrong. I prefer Debian stable over Ubuntu, and, in my opinion MX is a better distro. Like Debian, it just works. I ...

Re: MX NOT Living Up To The Hype

I also use an ntfs partition for data storage. I keep my home folders for each linux installation (and windows for that matter) seperate (in the system partition for each system), and link in the data partition. Here's a screenshot of my setup. I've found over the years that having the settings ...

Re: MX NOT Living Up To The Hype

With any muti-os sharing the same "home partition." You will likely be better off creating a small /home directory on your MX install, and any other distro you use. Symlink your data files to your MX /home directory, you can easily do so with Midnight Commander. Your configuration file for MX or any ...
