Re: Is Linux fighting back?

I am a Boomer. Have always loved PC's / Laptops. Have always loved building a home PC, modifying PC / Laptop components, improving perofrmance. Guess I am a " Geek by nature, Linux by choice " type of person. I do hate using smartphones for anything except making / receiving calls, sending ...

Re: What do you want MX25 to be.?

Good evening everyone,

Interesting topic. First of all, I gave up distro hopping a few years back because I descovered MX Linux and I have been an avid user since.
What would I suggest for MX 25 ? Hmmmmm. Here's a thought. Last week I read a posting on another Linux website where the person ...

MX-Linux w / KDE Plasma

I have been running MX-Linux on my home built PC, My ASUS laptop and my old Lennovo T-500 laptop. Here are the specs to my home built PC. It's been humming along just fine for the past couple of years. Had trouble trying to get NVIDIA card to work with the included drivers, but out of frustration, I ...

Re: Wine instalation problems

I installed Wine directly from their website. Installation was a breeze as long as you follow their steps for the particular Debian version, e.g. Debian 11 bullseye, Debian 12 bookworm or Debian Testing ( Trixie ). I would recommend staying with what Debian version MX-Linux is currently using. Here ...

Re: Just wondering... What do you use Wine for?

oops Thanks for the tip. I looked at it. Don't like how it's formated though. I prefer Ancestral Quest 16, it's a continuation of PAF 5 ( which was discontinued ) many years ago. I guess once you're used to using a program that's formatted the way you like it, you kinda stick with it. Anyway, I ...

Re: Just wondering... What do you use Wine for?

I use Wine for a Windows genealogical program ( Ancestral Quest 16 ). These is Gramps software for genealogy in the repositories, but I don't like how it's set up. Ancestral Quest 16 runs absolutely great with wine on MX Linux OS. No problems.

Edit:

I have had success downloading Wine from their ...

Re: Brave or any other browser besides Firefox....

Brave browser is such a resource hog. When I use the Bleachbit app after browsing the internet, I notice that if I use Brave browser, it has about 3 to 4 times more cache to clean that Firefox. I tried other browsers, but Firefox seems to work best with just about all websites. I have used Seamonkey ...
