Re: Routers and Linux
I suppose it also depends on where you're located and what's available. We have a Fritzbox 7490 with full access via CP. Features include 2 USB 3 ports, 4x Gigabit LAN, Wifi everything including AC, Speed throtteling if you're into that, Phone & hardware/FAX support, Separate guest accounts for ...

Best of both Worlds? ORAGE & WHAT TIME IS IT
I'm hoping that this wouldn't be too difficult to implement ...
Orage has the ability to include custom background/foreground colors on the panel date & time. Thats awesome!
What Time is it provides you with a perfectly translucent background, to work with existing panel transparency. That's awesome ...

Appimage concerns
I haven't heard anything yet, perhaps because it's still too new, but I have siilar concerns about anything that comes from AppImage, which is IMO pretty much the same thing as the old 90s and later "Stand-Alone Software" for Windows. My concern is that when linux repositories begin providing or ...
Re: Systemd
Just reboot, then select advanced MX options at the grub menu, followed by selecting the MX systemd boot option. That'll boot you right into a systemd environment. Just be certain that that's what you really want. If so, after you're logged in you can then select grub-customizer from your start ...

Re: Ideas for a "Quick Start" document
Again: we're looking for ideas for a document for the current MX Linux.
These ideas are well worth considering, but not in this thread.
I thought that's what the post above that one was. Sorry if that wasn't the case. I had listed numerous help documents which can be created, in order to be ...

Re: Ideas for a "Quick Start" document
If an OS is as good as MX, then why not make it even easier to use? Is there a logical reason why not?
Easier to use, yes, dumbed down to just point and click? no. Installed with jut basic applications that do not appeal to the advanced duser?, no.
MX is simple enough to use for the novice, yet ...

Re: Ideas for a "Quick Start" document
I don't think so at all. Everyone whom I know expects a little eye-candy and more importantly, how to change existing eye candy if they don't like the initially presented setup. My simple, quick 'n' dirty help files include:
Automatic updates, how they work, plus 6 small graphics from beginning to ...

Re: Ideas for a "Quick Start" document
Alright, let's see how I got involved with MX Linux? I was searching Online for the fastest, easy to use Linux OS out of the box. I wasn't looking for myself because I was actually pretty pleased with Mint 17 XFCE and Mint Cinnamon, but I was looking for something that I could use on older computers ...

Re: Ideas for a "Quick Start" document
I know this probably sounds ridiculous to some people, but I believe in making everything point 'n' click dummy-proof. For one thing, we live in Germany and I'm the only knowledgable Computer/Linux user that I know of in our area, no kidding (we don't live in a large city). Consequently, there's ...

Re: TRUE session save possible? MX Tools? How?
This link actually talks about the very same thing, not related to XFCE though. But that's what I'd like to be able to achieve:
