Re: Copying files to NTFS with colons in filename
You are right, of course. At the time I came up with that master plan, I doubt I had any recordings with colons in them (the classical music stuff is pretty recent), so the plan could have worked for windows users at that time. So I'll be reformatting to EXT4, I guess. Funny that I am able to copy ...

Re: Copying files to NTFS with colons in filename
I restored an MX-18.3 virtualbox machine I had, and tried to manage the copying of files through it. Alas no success. Also tried copying them in a zip file (that worked), but (as you said) when I tried to extract them, it wanted me to rename all the files. I guess I could change the partitions to ...

SOLVED: Copying files to NTFS with colons in filename
Greetings! I have read that one can't copy folders/files from Linux to an NTFS-formatted partition if there are colons in the filename. HOWEVER, I have a whole bunch of files that I created in MX-Linux which I copied to an external NTFS-formatted hard drive using PCManFM. Here's a sample of one ...

Re: SMPlayer crashing
I don't know what happened - maybe SMPlayer had to think about the changes for awhile or something - but I'm getting video and sound on my regular user, and also video and sound on the test instance. Maybe a restart was needed before the changes kicked in. But everything is rolling along nicely now ...

Re: SMPlayer crashing
Thanks for taking an interest in this Stevo. MPV was already installed. I created a test user, switched to it and ran smplayer in terminal. I opened a video and played it just fine, albeit there was no sound. MPV was the multimedia engine selected under the Options->Preferences->General tab. I also ...

SMPlayer crashing - SOLVED
After updating to MX-23, SMPlayer has been giving me problems. I have a separate /home partition, so the smplayer config files were the ones I was using before the upgrade. It opens, but doesn't start. If I go to preferences and assign mplayer as the default multimedia engine (which is what I have ...

Re: Dukto
Thanks Steve! After looking at the zip file, I think it best if I wait until it hits the main repos. But I can't wait. I know its old and not supported any more, but it still works fine and there are very few programs that can do file transfer + chat features this easily. Thanks to FullScale4Me for ...

Dukto - SOLVED
Not sure if this is in the right place, but I just upgraded to MX-23 from MX-19.4. Dukto was in the repositories then, but is not now. Searched all over the internet and in the forum posts, and can't seem to find Dukto R6 for Linux that I can download. Notwithstanding that the package is no longer ...

Sort order change for PCManFM?
Running MX-Linux (xfce), fully updated. This morning, I added 10 files into pre-existing folders on an attached NTFS drive. I opened Thunar, and sorted the contents of a folder by 'Date Modified', descending. Here is the first page of results: thunar_screenshot.png Then I opened up PCManFM and ...
