"...was recently found to have a serious security hole. It's now patched."
...so it was found an patched before we ever heard of it. Thanks Debian!
I wonder, was this ever a real problem, as in did a hacker ever use that hole and do something?
Not just "a proof of concept"

Re: APT vulnerability
the patch was published (in Debian) and we were able to update before the press release was made.
...
I assume MX has those updates also, but not really sure.

I did make several installs, several methods. I got a long way with it.

Re: MX-18
"MX 18" or "MX 19" might make some think "reinstall probably needed".
I prefer simple "point releases" (17.2, 17.3, etc.) ... "Update and continue" is the mindset most of us are accustomed to with Debian.

I trust Debian for security. Stretch now uses 4.9.0-7 4.9.0-8 and it is current with all security patches.

Re: Mx 17 Snapshot Mate Remix
LMDE 3 is difficult, not a good base for mate desktop. The end result is not complete or fully functional. Not worth the effort.
MX is much better in every respect.

Re: Ikkey leaves Solus
Ikey has been trying to make a go of it for quite some time.
building from a team of 1 is difficult, he has to take any work he can to continue to feed himself.
does anybody remember when he started his first distro based on Gnome2, shorty after Gnome abandoned it and restarted with Gnome 3?
