Thank you. That reverted me back to 2023.3, and it works. However, this probably means that I need to update MX to the current version, which is 21 I believe, so that I can update Mullvad.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to delete files through the file manager but need root access to do so?

You can open a root instance of the file manager so you can delete your files:

MX is amazing. Slim and fast even on old hardware. Over the past year or so, I have migrated 4 computers over to MX from various other distros and am running it on one USB drive with persistence.

Have you set up the displays? Hit the menu key and type in "display" and hit enter. You can set the resolution and position of the displays that way.

You can use Settings Manager -> Appearance to cycle through Styles until you find one you like.
