Re: Cant boot MX23 on P520, reboot loop
Okay an update: MX still won't boot. I admit I never thought about the BIOS, I just assumed it would be updated already & wouldn't think of checking that for another year. I updated the BIOS though, thank you for that idea. Also re-rendered my iso with the Liquor kernel. Sadly it still doesn't boot ...

Re: Cant boot MX23 on P520, reboot loop
Thank you very much for all your help! Sadly that is also a no-go, as nothing is plugged in to that USB port.

Re: Cant boot MX23 on P520, reboot loop
Thank you for the replies! Okay first, Secure Boot is off, plus it's disabled anyway due to booting in MBR. Fast Boot is not shown in Control Panel, powercfg lists it as unavailable, gpedit lists it as unconfigured, and regedit does show it as enabled (1), so I did change it to 0, and for kicks ...

Re: Cant boot MX23 on P520, reboot loop
Thanks for your reply! Okay:
1. Yes, MX boots fine from all other computers in the house. Only 2 others have DVD drives, but it boots fine from them, and from USB on the rest.
2. DVD was burned in Windows using ImgBurn
3. Yes, same results.
4. Yes the MD5 & SHA both checked out fine. Using the ahs ...

Re: Cant boot MX23 on P520, reboot loop
Okay, so here are a few updates: Last time I ran Fedora it updated the Grub/bootloader but didn't recognize itself. Used my trusty SuperGrub2 disk, it worked but with lots of errors, a lot of "insmod isn't allowed to execute in an extractor", and some save_env/export/loadfont/terminal_output/load ...

Cant boot MX23 on P520, reboot loop
Strange... So I have MX installed on all my computers & it works great! But just got a new Lenovo Thinkstation P520 and it just keeps rebooting. Okay, new as in new for me, yeah I'm not rich so all my computers are old, hahaha! Anyway, so it's a P520 with a M.2 installed. I installed Windows and ...

Re: Live usage poll. How often do you use MX as a live operating system?
Well I guess I'm too late for the poll, but i use Live as much as possible. I create my own custom ISO image using the Snapshot program and then just boot from that. I love the security and stability it gives me! I do also boot into Fedora or Windows for most video editing work but otherwise I love ...

Re: Bake Virtualbox VHD into Snapshot ISO
Firstly, sorry for not replying, got busy with other projects. Work & stuff, you know. :) Anyway, just an update here, as best I can remember since it's been a while. I had a VHD with WIndows and a VDI with Android. The command worked great for Android, pretty much as expected. But to update the VDI ...

Bake Virtualbox VHD into Snapshot ISO
Very small bit of history: I've been a fan since it was MEPIS. But several computers in 3 places (I'm living here in Manila, also work with someone in NJ and NY) had serious problems and I really became a fan of the Snapshot feature, and from MX-15 to MX-17, more or less, we were all only running MX ...

Re: MX 17 for video editing/graphics work
For our situation the DVDs are better. The problem was an ongoing (a few months) electrical issue which not only fried several RAM chips, PSUs, power strips, UPSs, expansion cards, & a Mobo but also currupted all the HDs. USB sticks are nice but they can still be currupted. DVDs are a bit more ...
