Re: Busybox Initramfs no boot

These surplus drives are just being used as inexpensive backups of large files with MX as a convenience OS, thanks Charles. Improvements to MX are very encouraging, Moksha by AVL impresses me and am hoping Wine and Alsamixer will stick around.

Busybox Initramfs no boot

Thrice in the past year have I had 23.+ end up here after the MX splash. These were 2.5" spinners being used as data drives, were swapped across machines for file transfer or running Linux without issue for several weeks. I tried rebooting and Live MX23.6 boot repair including the initrd rebuild ...

Re: MX18.3, 19.4 and 23.5_ahs on Core 2 Duo

Took long to get back to the E8400 (integrated) and in spite of its 2gb ddr2 limitation the old MX23.3kde was running just fine. As with last year Conky still had RAM starting at a Gig but even if MX19 guzzles a few hundred Megs less, I now think it's probably not worth bringing it back.

MX18.3, 19.4 and 23.5_ahs on Core 2 Duo

Only one DIMM slot still works on the E8400 so it can be quite constrained on the installed MX23.4-KDE with just 2gb DDR2. With 18.3, 19.4 and 23.5_ahs on Ventoy live for comparison, I tried checking the performance of two appimages on a slightly younger Fujitsu Esprimo desktop.

Irfanview is a single step away should MX25 come with Wine.

VGA-integrated on old and new hardware

Previously I had claimed here that Core2Duo E8400 integrated is capped at no higher than MX21.3 after seeing VLC 3.18 playback of h264 video spike the CPU to 80% while h265 hits 95% average. Recently I live tested updated snapshots of 23.2 and 23.3 on the 21.3 machine and for the same playback both ...

Underestimated Core2Duo

I did not expect this unit to handle MX-23.3_KDE on a Ventoy stick and since it did so rather well I installed it over the old 21.3.

Re: Inability to setup AVL_MXE-23.1-20240120_x64 [Solved]

23.2 resides on a 2.5" hdd for duty as external/internal boot drive for any of the above machines that might require AVL. On an old laptop that once handled 21.3 quite well, the touchpad buttons this time responded poorly and somehow the spacebar was needed as a clicker. To be reasonable, the ...

Could be lightdm but I don't have 23.1 anymore and 23.2 works as long as it's not on sysvinit. Sorry for the late response as I am rather intermittently online.
