No need to keep banning my IP
For the second time in the past 30 days, my IP has been banned from the MX forum for posting spam. I ignored the first ban because I thought it was just a freak identity mistake. But two bans back-to-back... that's intentional. My IPs come from my ISP randomly. These bans can't be a coincidence. If ...

Re: start in airplane mode
BUT shortly after resuming from suspend the radios restart if that was their state prior to suspend. I don't want them to start up until I tell them. If you disable WiFi and Bluetooth using the GUI interfaces immediately before you suspend, tho, the UI network mon et. al. will remember their states ...

Re: MX Linux for Mother's Laptop
There is a distro called LinuxFX from Brazil that is really, really, Windows-esque. In fact, it uses Windows trademarked imagery, content and all. I don't know how they avoid MS lawyers. If you must have something that looks and behaves like Windows 10 but want Ubuntu under the skin, this is a ...

Re: MX Fluxbox versus other Window Managers and Envioroments
How do you guys get apps started with gksu et. al. to work when you're not using XFCE.
I often use Openbox that you get for free if you just install LXDE. But like Dolphin says, not everything in XFCE works. Is there a compatibility trick, or do you just have to wing some alternative stuff?

Re: Is the grass greener over there?
My favorite “on the go” wifi router/ access point, VPN concentrator distro is OpenWRT hands down. Runs great on a Raspeberry Pi. Don't you love OpenWRT? I just bought a Linksys WRT3200ACM last week -- because it was the best router I could find that ran OpenWRT. They have really worked hard on that ...

Re: Is the grass greener over there?
If you look at distros from an application point of view -- what do you want it to do -- they're much harder to evaluate. For example, if I want to run VMWare virtualization products, MX is not the best choice. And it doesn't claim to be, either. If you want to build a tablet that only runs Chrome ...

Re: VMware wont let me complete installation?
It could be that VmWare products expect Debian distros to be running System D, and it can't install and start its services using MX's shims.
Just a guess.
Just a guess.

I don't care about the hardware accel right now, i can wait. But I need the soundcard ;) Maybe i can try something for that... In the interim, you could use Bluetooth for sound, or buy a USB A sound (adapter). They're just a few bucks on Amazon. A USB C headphone adapter normally used on an Android ...

As Jesse notes, if an MX user has a problem with say Firefox, they typically don't go to Mozilla for assistance. They come to this forum.
