Re: 403 error [Solved]
I'm accepting CharlesV's post as the answer. When I have more time I will try to follow his suggestion. Meantime I' about to dump $8K on these people so I will take the time to suggest that they have a look at whom they might be missing out on with such an exclusionary policy. thanks, all!

Is there a simple command line instruction to disable (and subsequently enable) the default firewall in MX-23?

403 error [Solved]
This may be a bit far afield for this forum but I think this problem may be os related. I run mx-23.6 on two laptops (Dell inspiron 15, 5000; and lenovo ideapad 330) Both are internet connect via ethernet but the problem persists if I switch to wireless. I use firefox on both machines but have tried ...

Re: grub rescue [Solved]
fehlix - thanks that did the trick. the grub repair on the mepis tools sent me to the bios set up where I discovered that an option to also allow legacy booting (in addition to the uefi) so I unchecked that and was able to set up the partitions in a manner that worked. The Tools that the newer ...

Re: grub rescue [Solved]
Was able to determine that if I bang on F2 repeatedly the machine will enter bios update. Oddly the bios menu that came up was different from the one I'd used earlier to enable boot from usb but I was able to select an option to do so and was able to get the live usb to boot. Now I'm at the stage ...

grub rescue [Solved]
I was trying to install MX-23.6 on a Dell Inspiron 15 using a live usb I had made earlier on that computer. The live CD booted as expected and everything seemed correct so I went to install only the root preserving /home. I think I made a bad choice when it came to installing grub. I know I did ...

Re: root partition full [Solved]
I've been watching the /var/log files and as suggested by Stevo they are slowly ballooning. I think if one of the admins wanted to mark this solved that would be good. I know what the problem is and that was the purpose of the original post. I'll putter with this as I have time and if I come up with ...

Re: root partition full [Solved]
I took from your previous post that I could remove them so ran the rm command from the terminal and it certainly had the desired effect of freeing up a lot of space on root. I am curious as to how this came to pass, if there is anything else I should be looking out for. I leave this out there for a ...

Re: root partition full [Solved]
So with Dolphin I see both syslog and kern.log as being 7.8GB which is what the disk analyser reported. I poked around a little but didn't see anything that caught my attention.. Can these two files be deleted. They seem to be just straight up files so it would seem to me to be all or nothing. I ran ...
